His ancestors came to the United States from Greece in 1920. The family cared about the national past. Constantine has known the Greek language since childhood. Besides him, the family has two more children. His elder brother Athan became a producer, and his sister Anastacia became a school principal.

When he was five, his family moved to Wyckoff, New Jersey. It was there that he became interested in music. At school, Maroulis learned to play the trumpet and tried to follow his elder brother. He even tried to play in various amateur music groups.

In 1993, he graduated from high school and entered the Boston Conservatory.

In 2000, he participated in the recording of the musical Suburban Dreams. Constantine wasted no time and worked every day to promote himself in the world of music.

For experience, he played in a number of off-Broadway musicals at the Conservatory. After that, he studied acting at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Berkshire, Western Massachusetts. He even went on tour with the Broadway troupe Rent for a long time. Despite his active work, he did not have an agent.

The key point in his career was the American Idol show.

AMERICAN IDOL

In 2004, the girlfriend of Maroulis persuaded him to go for an audition in a popular TV show. For the sake of it, he set off for Washington. Constantine became a member of the new age group of 16-28 years.

On American Idol, Maroulis proved himself from a professional side. With the song My Funny Valentine, he got into the collection of the show. The performance of the song Queen attracted the attention of the band’s guitarist Brian May. He had every chance to become the winner of the show, but he was kicked out by the judges for performing a song of the Nickelback band. Maroulis was one of the first to perform a rock composition at the show. At that time, it went against the concept of the TV show.

In 2003, it became known that Maroulis had become the vocalist of Pray for the Soul of Betty. He stayed in the band for almost three years. In 2006, he left it due to creative differences. The position of the band’s leading voice did not deter him from conflict situations.

The reason for leaving was also the desire to build a solo career. In 2005, he set out with the show to Manila, the Philippines, and New Jersey. The program included compositions from his theater works and performances on American Idol. In 2006, he finished the tour, having visited 13 cities. In 2008, he went on a bigger tour. These were large-scale performances and meetings with dozens of new artists.

PERSONAL LABEL

In the process of developing himself as an artist, Maroulis created his own independent label Sixth Place Records. This label released his first album, Constantine. He had worked on a full album for two years. The CD of the same name lit up the Billboard charts.

An ever-growing fame and musical skills brought him to the sports fields, just not as an athlete. Maroulis repeatedly performed the National Anthem before the games. In 2013, he sang before the opening of the New York Yankees. He also sang the national anthem at Madison Square Garden and at the opening of the US Open Tennis Championships. This is a great honor for any artist.

To keep drawing the attention of the audience, Maroulis continued to attend various TV shows. He appeared on the show Don’t Forget the Lyrics! and donated his winnings to charity.

In 2009, he released a series of humorous solo songs at a New York show. The essence of the show was a unique and free interpretation of the famous rock masterpieces. It was an entertainment show aimed at maintaining Maroulis’ popularity and developing his talent.

In 2011, he returned to Idol, where he performed his own single Unchained Melody.

In addition to his musical career, Maroulis was a regular author of the Loukoumi series of children’s books, co-authored with Nick Katsoris. He voiced one of the characters in the audio book. Maroulis also gave the voice of the interactive toy Rock Star Mickey, not forgetting about the release of songs at the same time.

TEAMWORK

In 2014, Maroulis performed with the 80s band Jessie’s Girl on Long Island. With the New York band SYKA, he recorded a cover version of Ozzy Osbourne & Lita Ford duet – Close My Eyes Forever. In September of the same year, Maroulis performed at the Rock in Rio festival in Rio de Janeiro. In 2018, he toured with the band Postmodern Jukebox. Together they performed in the USA and Canada. In 2006, he starred in the Broadway musical “The Wedding Singer”. Broadway received him more kindly than the big cinema. In 2007, he played the role of “Young Soldier”. Texas critics admired his voice and vocal skills. Work in the musical “Jekyll and Hyde” allowed Maroulis to reveal himself from a new side.

A considerable part of his television career was based on American Idol. He was a guest star more than once. He was the host of the show, where he interviewed past participants of the show. American Idol became an important part of his career. Constantine Maroulis decided to keep up with other New York actors and also played in the series “Law & Order”, the episode “Faces of the victim”.

PERSONAL AND PUBLIC LIFE

In 2008, Maroulis got to know Angel Reed. The conflict between Reed and Maroulis was intense. But in September of the same year, she filed an application to withdraw all charges. The court accepted her statement. As a result, all charges against Maroulis were annulled.
