His father taught at Bushwick High School and Yeshivah of Flatbush, a Jewish religious school. The family practiced Conservative Judaism, which they actively passed on to their children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Darren&#8217;s parents made sure that their son received a high-quality education. He graduated from one of the greatest schools in the country, Edward R. Murrow High School in Midwood, Brooklyn. They did not, however, insist on attending university. After graduating from high school, Aronofsky went on a trip. He spent six months traveling around the Middle East, Europe and Guatemala. Many American teenagers choose this path. This assists you in making your decisions about the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1987, Aronofsky enrolled in Harvard. He studied anthropology and film there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His coursework was to create a short film. This was Aronofsky&#8217;s debut directing effort. The film was called &#8220;Supermarket Sweep&#8221;. In 1991, the film was nominated for the Student Academy Awards. His final work was the short film \u201cProtozoa\u201d. In 1993, he earned his Master of Fine Arts degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"THE_FIRST_MAJOR_WORK\"><\/span>THE FIRST MAJOR WORK<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1995, Aronofsky returned to New York City and began work on his first feature film, &#8220;Pi.&#8221; The director chose surrealist psychological thriller as the genre. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 1998 and won an award there. In total, Aronofsky received five different awards in 1998.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This film raised $3,2 million thanks to participation in this and other independent film festivals. Although the film&#8217;s budget was only $60,000. This result quickly established Darren Aronofsky as a talented director. The film adaptation of Hubert Selby&#8217;s novel was released in 2000. The film received multiple honors, and the lead actress, Ellen Burstyn, was nominated for an Oscar but lost to Julia Roberts. She was accompanied by Jared Leto and Jennifer Connelly. In terms of atmosphere, &#8220;Requiem for a Dream&#8221; has become exceptional. Aronofsky was able to capture all the cruelty and doom of the book, as well as the Brooklyn spirit. The lead parts were assigned to two mega-popular actors, Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. Even before filming began, Pitt and Aronofsky couldn&#8217;t agree on several controversial issues, so the actor quit the project. Pitt cited creative differences. Unfortunately, this is not uncommon in the film industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The production of &#8220;The Fountain&#8221; was halted as a result of his departure. Aronofsky was able to resume the work only in 2004. The budget for the picture was cut in half. Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz became the new main characters. &#8220;The Fountain&#8221; debuted at the Venice Film Festival. Critics were not overjoyed, although the film was generally well-received. The same cannot be true for the audience. The film only made $16 million. This was the first major failure in the career of the filmmaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, in 2008, Aronofsky redeemed himself with the film &#8220;The Wrestler&#8221;. There is hardly a person in the world who has not seen the story of an insane ballerina. With a budget of $13 million, the film grossed about $320 million worldwide. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards, winning one (Best Actress).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to his diverse creative abilities, Aronofsky was able to astonish his audience with new unconventional works. Though, &#8220;Noah,&#8221; an epic story with religious elements, did poorly at the box office. The marketing costs of advertising the film were prohibitively expensive. The picture was even banned in a number of countries because of its religious component. Brendan Fraser, a sex icon of the 1990s, masterfully conveyed his character&#8217;s experience. He was dealing with losing his boyfriend, being overweight, insecure and having a strained relationship with his daughter. Everyone was impressed by Fraser and Sadie Sink&#8217;s acting. The film&#8217;s budget was minimal &#8211; $3 million &#8211; yet its income was $32.4 million. Brendan Fraser received his first Academy Award nomination for this role. After &#8220;Mother!&#8221;, this was the director&#8217;s second significant and successful work. They got married four years later. In 2006, the couple had a son, and in 2010 they divorced, but they remained friends. Aronofsky is actively involved in his son&#8217;s life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2012, the renowned director was rumored to be dating producer Brandi-Ann Milbradt. However, it did not last long. During the filming of &#8220;Mother!&#8221; Aronofsky had an affair with Jennifer Lawrence, although their relationship lasted only a year. There were rumors of an imminent wedding. Lawrence, however, stated after the divorce that the reason was the age difference. Aronofsky made no response but quickly started a new relationship with a young model Suki Waterhouse (Robert Pattinson&#8217;s fiancee), who was a year younger than the actress. Fans then interpreted their affair as a publicity stunt to promote the film. Aronofsky attempted to raise awareness about environmental issues. Thus, he sought to convey to everyone how critical it is to protect our blue planet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the same year, Aronofsky produced the crime thriller series &#8220;White Boy Rick&#8221; with Matthew McConaughey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aronofsky has a strong sense of superstition. While working on a new film, he does not cut his hair. He interprets it as a bad omen. The list of the director&#8217;s top 3 favorite films includes &#8220;Saturday Night Fever&#8221;, &#8220;Jacob&#8217;s Ladder&#8221; and &#8220;Angel Heart&#8221;. They had an enormous effect on his directing vision.
